The Founders of the Society - Nicolae Reutoi, Eduard Aleksandrov, Zheka and others

The idea of creating the society came to mind in March 2009. It was somekind of unusual that in the oldest university in Dublin with so many russian speaking students was no Russian Society. We weren't the first to create it, there were 3 attempts before us. But we were defintely the first who succeeded in keeping it alive. All you need to succeed is courage, support from your friends and family, patience and a bit of luck. The society wasn't created for us, it was created for the future generations which will come to Trinity and support our idea. By dealing with the hardest task, that is to get the Society running, we are simply making it easier for the upcoming committees and members.

Debbie Deegan

Debbie Deegan was a full-time mum of 3 children when she set up the charity To Russia With Love in direct response to horrendous conditions she had encountered in a rundown orphanage in Hortolova in Bryansk, Western Russia in 1998. Debbie was awarded the Rehab ‘International Person of the Year’ award in 2009. In To Russia With Love we believe that children without parents deserve the same rights and entitlements as all children and we design programmes of care that try to restore the benefits of genuine parental love for orphaned and abandoned children in Russia’s sad orphanages.
